Proven Leadership Solutions That Drive Results

Tech & Finance

BLG has made a foray into training high-potentials in tech organizations. Tech organizations are often complex, with multiple departments and units sometimes working on multiple objectives, often in isolation. BLG’s experience in tech organizations focuses on training professionals who are experts in their field or specialty and are being primed for promotion. This cohort knows their business and is deeply familiar with the organization. They need to develop the tools to collaborate effectively with others and to better disseminate their ideas across the organization or externally. BLG’s model addresses the ideation process, familiarizes participations with the political skills of mobilizing support, teaches them the skills to develop their team, and gives participants an opportunity to practice their new skills in a safe environment.

Avalara
Cisco
Sungard

BLG created the “Edge” program for the organization’s high potentials. This program was offered virtually to maximize global participation. Participants worked collaboratively through all facets of the BLG model and developed specific projects that were applied to Avalara’s stated future direction.

BLG assisted Cisco’s leadership development group to create the Cisco Innovation Academy

—a global program with both online and offline content. BLG face-to-face workshops were delivered in Bangalore, Tel Aviv, and North Carolina. Participants were able to engage with video presentations and interactive webinars.

SunGard, a leader in financial services and public sector software and services, used the BLG model to train its high potentials to lead for innovation, create change, and move agendas in a solution-driven organization. The BLG training focused on developing SunGard's high-potential leaders across the globe in the skills of collaboration and leading change.

Higher Education

Universities, by their very nature, are “clunky” organizations—they have multiple goals, multiple units, agendas, and multiple challenges and opportunities against a backdrop of turf, networks, and status games. The Bacharach Leadership Group (BLG) created a program for high-potential leaders in higher ed that both acknowledges the clunky nature of the university but also offers strategies to work within the clunky setting to get things done and achieve results.

Cornell University
Lehigh University

At Cornell University, the Leading Cornell program was renamed to Samuel B. Bacharach Leading Cornell Program. Since 2010, well over 300 academic and administrative staff have been immersed in BLG’s high-potential training. Participants engage in an ideation session, understand and practice the political skills they need to move their ideas ahead, take part in an intensive negotiation segment, and acquire and practice coaching skills for engagement and enhancement. Leading Cornell provides the university with a coherent leadership mindset across organizational units.

BLG created Pragmatic Leadership at Lehigh, offered in collaboration with Leigh Human Resources. The program is a multi-month training program that enhances the university culture. The 2023-2024 training has been supporting the institution’s long-term strategic plan: Our Future, Our Lehigh. Participants will use the skills learned in the training to develop ideas that support the pillars of the plan.

Healthcare & Insurance

Hospitals, hospital systems, and medical insurance groups are complex organizations. Health care leaders need to manage the organization’s sometimes divergent business interests with its clinical or academic interests. Add to this the increase in mergers and acquisitions and the complexity of insurance, future leaders need the skills of an Agenda Mover as never before.

Excellus
Mental Health Association

Excellus, a healthcare insurance provider based in upstate New York, brought in BLG to provide a custom, online negotiation training for their leaders.  Using lecture, discussion, and cases, BLG delivered a robust and practical learning experience for the participants.

The mission of the Mental Health Association in New York is to improve the lives of individuals, families, and all communities in New York State by raising mental health awareness, ending stigma and discrimination, and promoting wellness and recovery. The organization was going through a period of significant change. They brought BLG in to provide leadership training for their staff members. The training helped them move forward, overcome blocks, and work collaboratively with partner agencies.

Non-Profit Organizations

Non-profit organizations sometimes neglect to budget for and deliver leadership training--when in fact, leadership training is essential for helping them carry out their individual missions effectively.

Housing Works

Housing Works, a non-profit in New York City, which provides services and advocates for the homeless community and those who are affected by HIV/AIDS, was dealing with a possible merger, working under a new business plan, and integrating regulatory changes related to healthcare delivery.  BLG provided a comprehensive leadership training program for the Housing Works team. The training focused on political competence, negotiation, and coaching, focusing on communication with internal and external clients.
