Unwritten Rules for Women in the Workplace

We all have to deal with the “unwritten rules” of the workplace. Women, in particular, need to be more proactive by utilizing the “unwritten rules” for advancement and leadership recognition.

Catalyst.org, one of the leading nonprofits focused on expanding opportunities for women in business, recently put out a series of reports on these rules titled Unwritten Rules: Why Doing a Good Job Might Not Be Enough Europe. The third report in this series examines European respondents’ perceptions of unwritten rules to advancement as well as how they learned to navigate these rules within their organizations. The study really focuses on how different advancement strategies might play out—and vary— for women across different cultural contexts.
